To the most distinguished President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dr. Russell M. Nelson,

Most esteemed shepherd of one of the most significant Christian bodies in the world today, on this joyful commemoration of your birth, I ask that I be granted the honour of conveying my most sincere felicitations, esteem and utmost respect. May Our Father continue to bestow upon thee incommensurable amounts of wisdom in all your endeavors, and may your guidance continue to inspire enduring abundant blessings among those entrusted to your spiritual care.

If I may, please allow me to use a few more sentences to express my thanksgiving for the amazing mentorship and guidance, as well as huge amounts of love, I have received from church members. I do not think this would have played that way without your life of commitment. I also wanted to express in this occasion my astonishment regarding your accomplishments in the scientific arena. I really hope God has in store that you, sir, one day share how your work as a doctor of the heart informs your ministry of love in the church; I love seeing how those two might connect!

Without further ado, I wanted to share a few quick testimonies: the power of God I have felt in ways that are real yet intangible on hallowed grounds such as the Bolivar Avenue Temple in Santo Domingo de Guzmán. I have grown in my understanding of the gospel given the work of missionaries and bishops, and for that I am equally grateful too. From the word of wisdom, to the importance of financial responsibility, as well as non-promiscuity and the concept of tithing, during your ministry I have felt immensely edified, as well as welcomed. I thank you for that. Home is where the heart is: I have never been to Utah, but that spot in the map just screams “home” to me from afar, too!

With the highest respect and most distinguished regards,

                        Mario Emilio Nouel Mejía
